Dr. P. Arulmozhivarman embodies the spirit of a dynamic professor, forward-thinking administrator, innovative researcher, and entrepreneurial mentor, currently serving as the Vice Chancellor at VIT AP University, Amaravathi. With a career dedicated to advancing academic excellence and institutional transformation, Dr. Arulmozhivarman inspires the next generation to reach new frontiers in research, leadership, and social impact.
Previously, he led as Dean – Academic Research at VIT, Vellore (2021–2025), and Dean – School of Electrical Engineering (2015–2018), demonstrating an unwavering commitment to elevating academic standards. His administrative journey extends to roles as Assistant Dean, Program Chair, and Division Chair, nurturing talent and driving programmatic innovation in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Signal & Image Processing. Dr. Arulmozhivarman earned his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology, Trichy.
A pioneer in product development and translational research, Dr. Arulmozhivarman’s track record features prestigious grants from DRDO, ISRO, BIRAC, DST, Meity and high-impact collaborations, including partnerships with Aravind Eye Hospital, AIIMS (New Delhi), and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (Baltimore, USA). His vision has connected academia to industry giants—Robert Bosch, Honeywell, Samsung R&D, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Danfoss, and GE—resulting in the establishment of sponsor-driven innovation labs at VIT
Dr. Arulmozhivarman brings a truly global perspective, having visited and collaborated with world-leading institutions such as NUS, NTU (Singapore), University of Malaya, WPI, Northeastern University, Boston University, MIT, Harvard (USA), University of Sydney, RMIT, Victoria University (Australia), Cambridge, Imperial College, Oxford, and London South Bank University (UK).
His research interests span health care Product development, AI Innovation in Wellness Monitoring, Photonics System Development, Air Pollution Monitoring, biomedical signal & image processing, vision-based surveillance, remote sensing, image compression, and machine vision for NDT and quality assurance. With over 95 publications in prestigious journals and conferences, several granted patents, and active mentoring of 10+ completed and 4 ongoing Ph.D. candidates, Dr. Arulmozhivarman is a recognized thought leader. His editorial contributions and reviewership extend to esteemed journals such as the International Journal of Computer Engineering Research, IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, and IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering.
As a Senior Member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Dr. Arulmozhivarman channels his deep expertise into multifaceted mentoring, tirelessly guiding student teams, organizing makeathons and hackathons, and translating research into commercial reality.
