The School of Mechanical Engineering is among the founding schools of VIT-AP UNIVERSITY at Amaravati to produce high quality engineers in the field of Mechanical Engineering to cater the demands of the nation to move at par with the highly industrialized and technologically advanced modern world. The primary objective of the school is to impart knowledge centered education and mold students into future engineers to meet global challenges in the area of mechanical engineering thereby enabling them to contribute to the societal prosperity of mankind. The school offers undergraduate program (B. Tech.) with one of the most advanced and upto-date academic curricula including NASSCOM courses designed, keeping in view of the industrial requirements in India and overseas. 1. Digital Manufacturing

Overview: Digital manufacturing sets to continue and grow in future as the use of information for production processes and becomes increasingly automated. With systems that are able to interact with each other, the growth of Industry 4.0 sets to continue the trend for joined-up production in order to increase competition and improve and streamline processes. SMEC is future ready for Mechanical Engineer with specialization in Digital Manufacturing.

Career Prospects: Students with Digital manufacturing as a specialization/Minor will have career prospects in core sectors like Automobile manufacturing units, Quality control Managers, Manufacturing engineers, production line supervisors. Almost all product companies need manufacturing engineers who are adept with Industry 4.0. Apart from these, the interested students may also seek career opportunities as a software professional.

2. Automotive Design

Overview: Automobile industries always look for those who possess in-depth multi-disciplinary knowledge and are creative enough to apply it optimistically. In the present scenario, electrical and hybrid vehicles are the future of automotive vehicles. Additionally, predictive vehicle technology, fuel efficient rides, and self-driving technology are sectors in which dominance of emerging technologies opens ample opportunities. To learn the automobile world needs a specialization in Automotive Design.

Career Prospects: Students with Automotive Design as a Specialization/Minor will have career prospects in Core sectors like Automobile Industries – Like TATA, Hero, TVS, Hyundai, Volvo etc. Interested candidates can also have career as an Automotive design engineer. 3. Robotics

Overview: From the Chandrayaan I project for sending robots to the moon, to biomedical engineering and the auto industry, robots are being used on a wide scale. Capstone Projects @ SMEC

Capstone Projects are hands-on projects that provides an opportunity to the students to apply their concepts, knowledge and ideas in a Specialization to realistic practical problems. The outcomes of capstone project in the process of creating an engineering system or product from inception to implementation and testing. Further the project can be transformed into publications in the form of patents or research papers in reputed journals.
