CADEC-2019 by VIT-AP University provides a nationally respected forum for Scientific Researchers and Engineers working on cutting edge technologies. This conference aims to introduce a highly-qualified platform where faculty members from various universities/engineering colleges, professionals from R&D institutes/industries, and research scholars from across the country can share updated breakthroughs, and promising solutions for significant research problems. The theme of the conference covers all the major areas in the fields of Electronics and Communication Engineering with keynote speeches and invited sessions by the renowned experts. All this aim at providing an opportunity for researchers and engineers across the nation to express and exchange their ideas and current research findings on the mentioned topics under various technical tracks, but are not limited to.

Hands-on 2-day workshop on Statistical Data Analysis using R

The Department of Mathematics, VIT-AP University organised a Hands-on 2-day Workshop on Statistical Data Analysis using R during 8-9th December 2018. This workshop covered probability distribution, hypothesis testing, Chi-square Test, Correlation, Regression Analysis and an overview of the industrial aspects using R. About 40 participants from more than 15 different institutes attended this workshop. This workshop aimed to provide participants with essential skills through hands-on lectures by the Industry Person Dr. S. Yadavendra Babu who beautifully crafted it. He kept the sessions very interactive and was ever ready to help the participants. He lucidly explained the concepts of the workshop and made it easier for everyone to understand without much constraints. Lastly, he advised the participants to focus in intuition while dealing with statistical data and provided a perspective to look at statistics as the study of variances in data. This workshop has been a very good step in moving forward towards a future of predictive supply chain.

Hands-on FDP on AI, Machine Learning, Statistical Techniques to Bridge Industry- Academia Gap

Department of Mathematics organized an FDP on “Hands-on FDP on AI, Machine Learning, Statistical Techniques to Bridge Industry- Academia Gap” on 6th October 2018. The resources person of the programme was Mr. Dipanjan Mitra, Data Scientist and Senior Manager, IBM India. More than 27 members attended the same. The FDP began with an explanation on AI and elements of AI and moved onto Typical Industry Use Cases. This was followed by a discussion on the scope and the area of a Data Scientist, distinction between supervised and unsupervised learning, frequently used statistical tools used in industry. The session concluded with a Hands-on session on toy-data and finding solution to the problem.

Hackathon

Department of CSE, VIT-AP University organized the first one day Hackathon on 8th October 2018 at VIT-AP on various themes. 86 teams and more than 330 students from various departments participated in the Hackathon. Out of 86 teams, 7 teams were selected as the winners. The Hackathon was projected to focus on the themes that tackle environmental and social issues. These seven competitive teams pitched and demoed their idea to the judges. The students used the state of the art technologies such as Cloud, Deep learning/Machine Learning, Internet of Things to build their applications. An optimal solution to OCR has been developed by one of the winning team which achieved nearly 99.5 % accuracy in recognizing the characters. The winning team was awarded with the memento. Finally, the feedback from the participants in general, judges, and faculties clearly indicated that this event was a grand success.

Drushya animation and Gaming Club

The inauguration of Drushya-Animation and Gaming Club happened on 06-10-2018 Saturday at VIT-AP. In this regard Venkatakrishnan Alwar CEO of Oysterr has delivered a session on “VFX, Animation and emerging Technologies”. He founded Oysterr in 1994 and currently handling VR / AR / Stereoscopic / VFX Supervision and heading production for cinemas. Has 25 years of experience in VR / AR / Stereoscopic / VFX, and he is a designer, artist and a photographer.

One-day Workshop on ‘Ethnography and how to approach a Community for Research’. The Workshop was conducted on 6th October, 2018, in the BBA Academic class room 409 of VIT, Amaravathi.
